Konjac glucomannan comprises 40% of the dry weight of the elephant yam which has an exceptional ability to absorb water and is one of the most viscous dietary fibres. When small small amount of glucomanna is ingested, it turns into a soft-gel substance that is able to expand up to fifty times its weight causing a feeling of fullness, which prevents excessive eating.
