When I reflect on the journey of KEDI and the communities we have had the privilege to serve, one thing becomes abundantly clear: success isn’t just measured by financial growth or market expansion. True success is about the lives we touch, the opportunities we create, and the lasting impact we leave behind. This belief was the driving force behind the establishment of KEDI Impact Fund.
From the very beginning, KEDI has been more than a business—it has been a mission. As the Company grew, so did my awareness of the challenges faced by many local communities in our host countries, especially in areas of education, healthcare, and economic empowerment. I realized that while we were doing well as a Company, we could do more to give back, to uplift, and to empower people who needed a helping hand.
The idea for KEDI Impact Fund came from my father – Mr. William Zhao as early as 2004. At that time, it was just a seed—a vision of creating a structured way to channel our resources and expertise into meaningful projects that would address pressing social issues. Over the years, this vision grew stronger, fueled by the belief that every Company has a responsibility to contribute to the greater good.
Years later, I took a bold step and officially shared the concept of KEDI Impact Fund with our team and partners. This was not just a declaration; it was a call to action. It was my way of saying that KEDI’s success must extend beyond the marketplace into the communities that have supported us for the past two decades.
For the next decade, we quietly worked behind the scenes, contributing to various causes and learning from each experience. But in 2024, I knew it was time to take KEDI Impact Fund to the next level. We restructured the fund, gave it a clear strategic focus, and developed a roadmap to ensure that our contributions would have a sustainable and far-reaching impact.
KEDI Impact Fund is more than a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative—it is a personal passion. It reflects my belief that businesses have the power to be forces for good, creating ripple effects of positive change. Whether it is supporting education for underserved children, providing access to healthcare, or empowering entrepreneurs to build better lives, the fund is a manifestation of my commitment to building a better world.
Establishing KEDI Impact Fund has been one of the most rewarding decisions of my life. It reminds me daily that true fulfillment comes not from what we gain, but from what we give. I am proud of how far we have come and even more excited about what lies ahead.
